Bioinformatics methods tap into some amazing technologies and resources but the real power of these tools isn't always clear to our students. This talk will focus on using a combination of protein blast and molecular modeling to identify amino acids in a drug binding site and predict whether a different protein will be likely to bind the same drug.

SEATTLE, Digital World Biology LLC ( https://dwbio.com ), a biotechnology education company, announces that it has received a $351,000 three-year grant from the National Science Foundation’s Advanced Technology Education Program to advance Biotech-Careers.org and Bio-Link.org capabilities (award DUE 1764225 ) . In the project, DWBio will introduce capabilities to Biotech-Careers.org that help improve students’ knowledge of biotech opportunities and ability to find employment as well as improve and sustain the digital infrastructure connecting the biotech-education online community.Read more

Sandra Porter, PhD, president of Digital World Biology will be speaking on Friday, Mar. 16th at Flathead Valley Community College's DNA Bootcamp for Teachers in Kalispell, MT. Dr. Porter will work with teachers on using molecular modeling to see how proteins (or drugs) bind to DNA molecules and in exploring mutations that affect protein structure and function.

The workshop is sponsored by a grant from the Advanced Technology Education Program at the National Science Foundation.
